GGC Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS)
From GGCWiki
[edit] MISSION STATEMENT
The Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) was founded in May of 2007 to support the academic and civic achievements of Hispanic students at GGC. In particular, OLAS serves as a forum to discuss issues relevant to the Latino community in Georgia and across the nation.
Events for the 2007-2008 academic year include the launch of an OLAS website, the publication of a bilingual e-newsletter, voter registration drives, and community outreach projects. Ongoing OLAS initiatives include a distinguished lecture series program, faculty and student mentorship opportunities across multiple disciplines, higher education information sessions for students and parents, professional and graduate school workshops, and socials.
While the organization focuses on the intellectual and cultural development of Hispanic students on campus, all GGC students with an interest in Latin America and the countries of the Caribbean basin are encouraged to join. OLAS aims to foster an environment of engaged learning for all students at the College. Bienvenidos a GGC.
