- Don't be stupid
- Make sure that you don't type any personal information into a website unless the website is secure (https)
- You should password protect your computer
- Use a unique password, I.E. do not use previous passwords
- Also use a combination of letters, numbers, lower case and upper case
- Use at least 6 numbers, remember each extra character increases security exponentially.
- Don't share your password with anyone (especially at your college)
- Don't download or install any program that you are not familiar with and trust
- Don't click on hyper links unless you are sure of the content.

"Firewall Protection"
Red Hat Enterprise Linux offers firewalls, for personal computer protection. Because it is important too configure a firewall in an effective manner, one can change the configuration:
No firewall- Turning off firewalls walls allows complete acccess to your system. This should only be enabled ONLY if you are sure you're using a secured network.
Enabling Firewall This gives various options. You can allow services to be used such as HTTP and FTP protocols, SSH, Telnet, and Mail. This gives choices over the various protection. To make an overall change, change security level configuration after installation. A Security Level Configuration Tool can also be launched.

Because a secure Operating System is the cornerstone of system security (As described by Red Hat), the SELinux has goals of protecting the OS and key applications.
