Reflection Questions

  • What's the difference between WAV format and MP3 format and how different formats affect downloading time ? (Hint: file size; compression)

Answer: WAV format is great but with the file size it's large. WAV is also uncompressed. MP3 file size is much smaller but can remove some data to make the smaller file size possible. MP3 format is lossy compression.

  • Do you know any other audio format? Please list at least two.

Answer: MP4, that is for Apple users.

  • How sampling and quantization affect audio quality?

Answer: For example, how we changed the Set Sample Format and also changed the Set Rate to 16-bit and 8000 hz, it blurred, distorted and slowed down my recording. The quality was terrible
