Session 1: Implications of Learning Theory on Teaching

1. Teachers must draw out preexisting understandings that their students bring with them. How can we do that?

2. Teachers must teach some subject matter in depth so that key concepts in the discipline can be understood. What strategies should we adopt to make that happen?

3. Teachers should integrate the teaching of metacognitive skills into the curriculum. How can we enhance our entry-level courses to develop our students' metacognitive skills?
