  1. Accounting software- Is an invaluable resource for modern business.
  2. Application software- Is a set of one or more programs designed to permit the user to perform a group of coordinated functions, tasks, or activities.
  3. Audio editing software- Is a software which allows editing and generating of audio data.
  4. Beta version- A version of a piece of software that is made available for testing, typically by a limited number of users outside the company that is developing it, before its general release.
  5. Bloatware- Software whose usefulness is reduced because of the excessive disk space and memory it requires.
  6. Computer-aided design (CAD)- Is mainly used for detailed engineering of 3D models and/or 2D drawings of physical components.
  7. Copyright- The exclusive legal right, given to an originator or an assignee to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material, and to authorize others to do the same.
  8. Course management software- Is defined as an internet-based software that creates and distributes course content, manages student enrollment and tracks student performance.
  9. Custom installation- A type of installation that allows the user to specify certain installation settings and options, such as which components will be installed.
  10. Customer relationship management software (CRM)- Is a phrase used to describe a category of enterprise software that covers a broad set of applications and software to help businesses manage customer data and customer interaction.
  11. Database software- Database management systems are computer software applications that interact with the user, other applications, and the database itself to capture and analyze data.
  12. Desktop publishing software (DTP)- Is the creation of document using page layout skills on a personal computer.
  13. Digital video editing software- Is the process of editing segments of motion video production footage, special effects and sound recording in the post production process.
  14. Drawing/Illustration software- is a program or collection of programs that enable a person to manipulate visual images on a computer.
  15. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software- A process by which a company(often a manufacturer) manages and integrates the important parts of its business.
  16. Entertainment software- Is used for performing several leisure activities like playing games, viewing photographs, and making videos using a computer.
  17. Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB)- Is a self-regulatory body for the interactive entertainment software industry established in 1994 by the Entertainment Software Association(ESA).
  18. Financial planning software- is typically described as any type of computer software designed to help individuals or corporations manage finances and business ledger and other accounting needs.
  19. Formula (in excel)- Are used to perform calculations on values entered and stored in the program.
  20. Freeware- Software that is available free of charge.
  21. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)- A document (as on a website) that provides answers to a list of typical questions that users might ask regarding a particular subject.
  22. Full installation- Fixed or semi fixed location of a complete system or a self contained unit, with its accompanying assemblies, accessories and parts.
  23. Image/Photo editing software- A graphics program that provides a variety of special features for altering bit-mapped images.
  24. Integrated help- To make a whole by bringing all parts together.
  25. Integrated software application- Is a software for personal computer that combines the most commonly used functions of many productivity software programs into one application.
  26. Macro- A single instruction that expands automatically into a set of instructions to perform a particular task.
  27. Mapping program- Identifying one set of values with another set.
  28. Multimedia software- The use of computers to present text, graphics, video, animation, and sound in an integrated way.
  29. Online mapping service- the compilation and publication of Websites that provide exhaustive graphical and text information in the form of maps and databases. Online mapping services are used for tasks such as planning trips, determining geographical positions, finding landmarks and businesses, obtaining addresses and phone numbers, and plotting storm tracks.
  30. Open source software- is software whose source code is available for modification or enhancement by anyone.
  31. Personal Information Manager software (PIM)- is a type of application software that functions as a personal organizer.
  32. Presentation software- software used to create a sequence of text and graphics, and often audio and video, to accompany a speech or public presentation.
  33. Productivity software- is application software dedicated to producing information, such as documents, presentations, worksheets, databases, charts, graphs, digital paintings, electronic music and digital video.
  34. Program- a sequence of instructions that a computer can interpret and execute
  35. Project management software- has the capacity to help plan, organize, and manage resource pools and develop resource estimates.
  36. Proprietary software- is software that is owned by an individual or a company (usually the one that developed it). There are almost always major restrictions on its use, and its source code is almost always kept secret.
  37. Shareware- software that is available free of charge and often distributed informally for evaluation, after which a fee may be requested for continued use.
  38. Simulation program- It is, essentially, a program that allows the user to observe an operation through simulation without actually performing that operation.
  39. Software- the programs and other operating information used by a computer.
  40. Software as a Service (SaaS)- is a software distribution model in which applications are hosted by a vendor or service provider and made available to customers over a network, typically the Internet.
  41. Software license- is a legally binding agreement that specifies the terms of use for an application and defines the rights of the software producer and of the end-user. All software must be legally licensed before it may be installed.
  42. Software piracy- is the illegal copying, distribution, or use of software.
  43. Software suite- is a collection of computer programs.
  44. Speech/voice recognition software- is the ability of a machine or program to identify words and phrases in spoken language and convert them to a machine-readable format.
  45. Spreadsheet software- A type of application program which manipulates numerical and string data in rows and columns of cells. The value in a cell can be calculated from a formula which can involve other cells.
  46. System requirements- The hardware and software components of a computer system that are required to install and use software efficiently.
  47. System software- is computer software designed to operate and control the computer hardware and to provide a platform for running application software.
  48. Tax preparation software- the process of preparing tax returns, often income tax returns, often for a person other than the taxpayer, and generally for compensation.
  49. Template- refers to a sample document that has already some details in place.
  50. Vertical market software- is software aimed at a particular vertical market and can be contrasted with horizontal market software (such as word processors and spreadsheet programs) that can be used in a cross-section of industries.
  51. Virtual reality program- is an artificial environment that is created with software and presented to the user in such a way that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment.
  52. Web-based application software- is any software that runs in a web browser.
  53. Web page authoring software- A Web site development system that allows Web pages to be visually created like a desktop publishing program.
  54. Wizard- a help feature of a software package that automates complex tasks by asking the user a series of easy-to-answer questions.
  55. Word processing software- is a computer program that provides special capabilities beyond that of a text editor such as the WordPad program that comes as part of Microsoft's Windows operating systems.
