Order Characteristics: Wings: FW Hardened, nearly always meeting in a straight line down middorsal line of the back, elytra covers HW and abdomen consequently abdominal segmentation is not visible from above, elytra sometimes shorter, not covering entire abdomen; Prontum: usually large; Cerci: Absent; Mouthparts: Chewing
Ecological Importance: Predator to other insects and some species eat plants as well.
Economical Importance: Decompose dead plants and animal material. Can act as pollinators to certain plants and can be parasitic.
