Distinguishing morphological features
-4 wings; leathery to membranous front wings; uniform texture; Wings rest over abdomen in roof-like manner.
-Short, bristle-like antennas.
-Sucking mouthpart; formed into a beak; rising from the back of the head.
Ecological and Economic/Public health importance
Species in the order Homoptera acts as pests of cultivated plants. They causes injuries to the plants that they feed off of. The species are also vectors of virus and bacteria caused disease of their plant host.
