My Favorite Time Wasters
Dead by Daylight
My friends and I have been playing games together as long as I can remember. One of the more recent ones we've been playing for around two years is called Dead by Daylight, which is basically like a convoluted version of hide & seek. One guy is a character from a horror film and tries to get you, while four other ""survivors"" try and restore electricity to the level. It's a lot of strategy and a lot of fun calling out trying to avoid the scary monster. My friends and I have spent many hours on the weekends playing game after game of this, I've lost count.
League of Legends
League of Legends is hands down the oldest game I personally play religiously. I've been playing this game since I was sixteen, and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. While most of my friends at one point or another played this game with me, they've all left to play other things like Fortnight(barf) and Overwatch. League of Legends to me, is like soccer or basketball to others. I'm so heavily invested in this game. League is what we call a MOBA or a "Multiplayer Online Battle Arena" Essentially it's a 5v5 game where you play for various objectives and try to one up the enemy team. There are so many different mechanics, and yet only one way to win. However, despite there being one way to win; how you go about winning is entirely different every game. In all the years I've played, no two games have ever been the same for me which is probably why I love it so much. The game has recently started becoming a very big scene for "pro gamers" which is the coolest ever!
Finally, we have a game that defined my tastes as a gamer. Kingdom Hearts! This is one of the first RPG's I ever played. It was made by a Japanese developer named Square Enix, and this game has a little bit of something for everyone; from beloved Disney Characters, to mysterious Final Fantasy Characters, and everything else in between. This game while being a single player, was something my friends and I could play together while sitting in an online chat or even on the couch because it's almost like watching a movie. This games story still continues today, and is over ten years old; but my friends and I just love discussing the lore. The game itself really tugs at your heart strings and your so invested into the characters' well being from the moment you start.
