Distinguishing morphological features of Order: Body divided into three segments, head, mesasoma and metasoma. Long and slender with a pinched waist. Long legs and hairy body. Compound eyes and segmented antennae.

Geographical Distribution: Found in most green parts of the world.


Life cycle: Egg>larva>pupa>adult. Eggs are laid inside or on the host insects. Once the eggs hatch, the the pupa either eat the inside of the host and emerge as adults.


Sexual dimorphism:


What it eats: Carnivorous. Eats pollen and nectar from flowers.


Habitat: Found where there is and abunduance of trees, shrubs and flowering plants.


Ecological Importance: Predator of many insects and prey of many birds.


Economic/agricultural/human health importance: Used as a natural pest control to protect crops from destructive species.
