Distinguishing morphological features of Order:
Homoptera includes cicades, leafhoppers, whiteflies, aphids, psyllids, and scale. Sucking mouthparts, segmented, arising from back of head. Four wings, when present, with forewings leathery or membranous, and held like a roof over the abdomen. Either short bristle-like or long and slender antennae with 10 or fewer segments. Some have posterior tubes for excreting waste. Scale do not look like insects.
