Reflection Questions

  • What's the difference between WAV format and MP3 format and how different formats affect downloading time ? (Hint: file size; compression)
Answer: Wav format supports uncompressed and a number of different compression formats and MP3 formats have good compression rate with perceivably high quality sound. The bigger the file the longer the download time.
  • Do you know any other audio format? Please list at least two.
Answer: .mov .wma
  • How sampling and quantization affect audio quality?
Answer: The higher the sampling rate the higher the accuracy in capturing the sound. In quantizing the more levels available in the scale, the higher the accuracy in responding the sound
