All About Me

All about Me -- Jacob Whitlock

My name is Jacob Whitlock and I am a freshman Psychology major here at GGC as well as an RA in the campus housing. As an RA my responsibilities include, but are not limited to, enforcing policies, reporting violations of policies, as well as acting as a mentor for my residents. I was born here in Georgia, in Gwinnett County, in fact, and consider myself something of a southern gentleman, as per my raising. I love music, especially singing as demonstrated by 10 years of training, choral programs, as well as my former position as the Music Minister at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Dacula. I enjoy reading, writing poetry and philosophy, and also doing handy-man projects. One characteristic of mine that is unique is that I am a contortionist. My joints are flexible to the point that I am able to put both of my legs behind my head and do pushups while contorted into the shape of a pretzel.

If I were a Famous Character...

If I were a famous person, I would be Blake Mycoskie. Blake Mycoskie is the founder and CEO of TOMS Shoes. The reason I would aspire to be him is that he is simply a philanthropist who built his business strictly on a model of philanthropy. If you are not aware, TOMS donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair of shoes bought. This is a blessing to so many children because without shoes they are susceptible disease, cuts, sores, and are required to attend any type of schooling. I believe Blake to be a true saint among men for this reason and aspire greatly to match his level of charity and integrity.

Interesting Facts

My strengths include my dependability in situations of need, my integrity when it comes to admitting my failures, considerable intelligence, as well as constant desire to commit to charity, even with strangers. Because of these qualities I was once President of my Jr. Beta Club, an AP Scholar with honor, winner of top male choral student in Grayson High School, and was nominated to participate in the Governor’s Honor Program. What I Iike most about myself reaches back into my roots. I am a Christian and have never hurt a woman in my life. I am polite towards strangers and respectful towards my elders. Above all, what I like most is that I am always willing to lend a helping hand.
